Job Description

Generally responsible for performing engineering tasks to support the complete design of small and large civil engineering projects using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. This work will be performed under general supervision at our office in Mobile, AL. This full-time, long-term opportunity offers full benefits, competitive pay, and upward mobility opportunities. Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Familiarity with and utilizing department design and drafting standards.

• Familiarity with project scope, specifications, and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team.

• Produce medium complex, complete design calculations, and assignments.

• Produce reports for clients and/or regulatory agencies.

• Provide design assistance on larger and more complex assignments.

• Check calculations made by other engineers to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, specifications, design criteria, and conformance to good engineering practice.

• Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies.

• Assist with drafting plans and details for the completion of engineering drawings.

• Perform fieldwork to gather data, check tie-ins, and provide construction support.

• Develop written construction specifications that define the scope of work, provide specific instructions, and prescribe quality standards.
• Perform land development and zoning code research for civil-site development projects.

• Work with discipline lead engineer in identifying scope changes in projects.

• Review and check submittal drawings and documentation.

• Ability to lead small-size teams in coordinating civil efforts and keeping the team focused on scope, schedule, and budget.

• Assist with estimating and scheduling professional service hours and assessing the progress and quality of civil/structural work.
